St.Francis FC (Dublin) 3 Killala FC 3 AET Killala win 4-3 on penalties.

The Killala girls kept up their winning ways in Baldonnell on Sunday with this good win against top WDDSL team St.Francis. The homeside started the better and had the Killala girls under the cosh for the opening quarter until the visitors playing with a strong breeze settled and then Rachel Healy and Aileen Gilroy tested the St.Francis keeper and despite playing second fiddle to the slick passing Dublin team they took the lead when Gilroy left the keeper stranded with a glorious shot from 30yards. One nil up and it was all Killala now. Elaine Lowther replaced the injured Rachel Healy on the half hour and almost scored with her first touch. seconds later she hit a screamer from out on the left ant the keeper made the save of the game . Alanna Naughton and Aileen Gilroy both should have scored before the break but Killala only had the one goal margin at halftime. The Visitors resumed the second period where they left off and two goals in quick succession by the inform Gilroy completed her hat trickand put her side in controll of the game. The Kilala girls defended well and kept St Francis at bay and it looked to be all going well until with 4 minutes remaining a clash of heads between Emma Varley in the Killala goal and the St,Francis number 8 resulted in a stoppage of 5minutes while the players received treatment. The Killala girls must have thought the game was over and when the game resumed it was all St.Francis with Killala retreated in a deep position the home side scored two late goals the second with the last kick of the game to force the game into extra time and leave the Killala girls in a state of shock. Extra time threw up chances to both sides to steal it but it was two tired sides who faced the dreaded shootout after100 minutes of pulsating action. Aileen Gilroy replaced the injured Emma Varley in goal and saved two and scored one to put her side into a semi final against Wilton of Cork. Niamh and Aoileen Collins along with Elaine Lowther were the other cool heads who slotted home their spotkicks to seal this famous victory. Team. Glenhest Rovers 4 Killala 4

Fielding without 6 of last weeks Cup winning side, the strengh of the squad was always going to be tested in a tough away fixture in Glenhest on Saturday evening. Despite this though the visitors started brightly and 2 goals from on fire striker Rory gallagher and a penalty save from the Peter Pan of keepers Sean McHale had Killala in front at the break. Four second half set pieces all resulting in goals  from Glenhest against a Killala  side without any of its tall players made sure that the points would be shared despite Gallagher weighing in with another brace in the second half.
