Killala 7 Achill Rovers 1 A hatrick of goals from Simon Helly and Cian Monaghan was the highlight of this enteraining match at Courthouse St. on Wednesday.Darragh O’Boyle made it seven as the Killala lads eased in to the next round. Former West Ham United & Charlton Athletic manager, Alan Pardew , gave a coaching demonstration to a large attendance at Killala FC grounds at Courthouse St. last week. Using the Killala FC Under 18 squad and assisted by Jim Lowther ( Ballina ) former sports scientist at Wimbledon FC and Niall Clarke former fitness coach at Reading FC, West Ham United and Charlton FC a very informative session was delivered to coaches from clubs throughout the Mayo and Sligo leagues. Killala 6 Glenhest Rovers 2 The mens team got their first win at home to Glenhest today in fine fashion. First half goals from Lee Cummins (3) Rory Gallagher,and Ronan Heffron had the homeside home and dry by halftime . Glenhest got their act together second half and managed to pull back 2 goals but Lee Cummins netted his fourth late on to make it six for his side . Manulla 7 Killala 0 After scoring seven the previous Sunday a much depleted Killala women’s team conceded seven to a slick Manulla side in Carramore on Sunday. The girls played well in the first half and deserved to go in at the break on level terms but poor finishing left them three goals in arrears. The visitors chased the game valiantly in the second period but Manulla picked off four more to kill the game. Killala 3 Westport United B 2 The U12 boys had a good 3-2 win in an entertaining game at Courthouse St. on Friday night. First half goals by Kyle McLoughlin (2) and Kevin Healygave them a comfortable halftime lead. A flurry of secondhalf substitutions by both sides tipped the balance of play to the visitors near the end but despite their two late goals the Killalalads march on into the next round. The Fibs for Phones Appeal in conjunction with MWR & C&C Cellular is nearing an end and we are pleased to announce that we have reached our goal of 500 phones. The Club wishes to thank everyone involved in the appeal from those who collected the phones to everyone who contributed phones.

Killala ladies travel to Manulla this Sunday ( 12.00 KO ) and will be trying to keep the pressure on league leaders by taking maximum points. It wont be easy against the much more experienced home team who have an excellent home form to date.The ever improving visitors will be looking to Aileen Gilroy ( 8 goals In 4 ) to provide the ammunnition as they look for their first away win of the season.
