Killala 5 Cornboy Utd 5

Killala U.16 Boys opened their league campaign against Cornboy Utd. at Courthouse St. which saw 10 goals in an entrawing encounter. Killala went 3 – 0 up in the first 30 mins with three great strikes from strikers Mattie Keane and Simon Helly. The home team had most of the posession and created many more chances with Darragh O’ Boyle and Padraig Murphy causing the Cornboy defence bother. Killala conceeded just before half time when a misjudged corner ended up in the back of the net with the half time score left at 3-1. Cornboy came out flying in the second half and shocked the Killala defence with 4 goals in quick succession leaving the Killala team stunned. A hard fought battle on all areas of the pitch eventually led to Darrag hO’Boyle latching on to a long ball from Cian Noone and bury it into the roof of the net, closing the gap to 1 goal. Killala snatched the equalizer in the last minute with Louis Hemer quickest to react to a Padriag Murphy corner to leave the final score 5-5. Killala found it tough against a physical and organised Cornboy team and hope to improve next week when they pay a visit to Snugboro Utd.
